“On 30th September, The Hogar San Camilo of Lima celebrated 25 years of activity.
The seat located in the Barrios Altos of Lima, was the first answer of the local Church, in coordination with the Camillians, for welcoming men affected by HIV and AIDS. Over the years its action was extended to accompanying and relief programmes for HIV-positive pregnant women, newborn, children, adolescents and adults in difficulty.
The festivities were marked by the socio-sanitary context that we are globally experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic but, despite the particular conditions, we did not give up and still tried to celebrate this important event.
Multiple initiatives have been carried out:
- A cycle of conferences about “THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH IN THE FIELD OF HIV AND AIDS IN PERU”, from 21st to 29th September on Zoom platform shared on Facebook with national and international relators.
- A triduum of preparation, between 27th and 29th September.
- a “Candlelight” took place on Tuesday 29th September thank all the collaborators, workers, benefactors and beneficiaries of the Hogar San Camilo who died during the years.
- A meal of “chaufa”, a delicious soup with meat vegetables and rice, was served in single portions to all the beneficiaries. For the occasion, 330 portions were prepared with drinks and a special care package.
After the lunch a moment of celebration took place, broadcast live on Facebook, which retraced the steps of the Hogar history, while remembering all of those who contributed to make it the institution that it now represents in the Peruvian context.
Warm thanks go to PRO.SA Foundation for making everything possible and for its continuous support!”
