The search of people trapped under the rubble continued for weeks, with less and less hope of saving them. To date, the confirmed victims are over 50.000 but the real number is certainly higher.
While, as expected, the earthquake emergency is already obsolete for the newspapers, for the affected populations the most delicate phase is now beginning. That of resilience to start again. The one in which every single family has to deal with what the seism has taken away from it: houses, dreams and, above all, people.
In this adjustment period, PRO.SA Foundation, together with its parnters AMU – Azione per un Mondo Unito Onlus and Seeds of Hope, is intervening in the affected areas of Aleppo, Latakia and Hama with the distribution of basic necessities (food, water, clothes etc.), food packages and urgent medicines for about 2.500 people. A more complex but equally urgent objective is to offer psychological support to the relatives of the victims, to the elderly people living alone, to the refugees hosted in the reception centres and to the all the operators working alongside the earthquake victims.
